Yes, multiple times. Wetpaint keeps losing it. How can I make it stick?

Huh. It was missing, I logged in, and now it's there. I opened a different browser, and it was missing, but after about 30 seconds it showed up. I really don't know what's going on here.

"Yes, multiple times. Wetpaint keeps losing it. How can I make it stick?"Save the .png file as .jpg and upload it. See if that works. Do you find this valuable? |

"Save the .png file as .jpg and upload it. See if that works."Heck no, .jpg is totally inappropriate for this image. I changed it to .gif. The transparent parts turned grey; I could fix that, but I'm very skeptical that this is going to work anyway. Why wouldn't a site support .png? How backwards would they have to be? I dunno, I saved it as .jpg and it looks just fine to me. Could you just try it? Only takes a couple of minutes of time. I got it to display by clicking and chosing display picture. Why is .jpg "totally inapropriate"?

"I dunno, I saved it as .jpg and it looks just fine to me. Could you just try it? Only takes a couple of minutes of time. I got it to display by clicking and chosing display picture. Why is .jpg "totally inapropriate"?"Jpeg is a lossy compression format based on discrete cosine transforms that create diffraction-like smudges around sharp edges. You can increase the compression level to get rid of the smudges, but you can't eliminate them unless you opt for no compression. Rather than worry about smudges, it's easier to just do lossless compression (png or gif) on images that have sharp edges and few gradients. Png is the more advanced format, but many images don't need its features, and sometimes gif outperforms it in compression ratio. Bottom line is that all sites should support jpg, gif, and png images. And Jpeg is the format for photographs. Yes, you can compress an image like this as a Jpeg, and maybe you can even get a better compression ratio out of it without any noticeable smudges. It depends on the image. But this looks like an image that will work best with lossless compression (sharp edges, no gradients, not a photograph). Even after I uploaded the gif, when I try to save the image (right click --> Save Image As...), it tries to save it as a png. Why? Is this image sticking better? Do you find this valuable? |

Seems to be "sticking" now. I can view it in Firefox. Let me try IE.
